The Public Relations Officer (PRO), of the Command, Mrs Nkeiruka Nwala, disclosed this to reporters.
She explained that the N39.8 billion collected in April this year, reflects an increase of N2.5billion, when compared to N37.3 billion generated the same period in 2019 fiscal year.
She also stressed that the Command recorded this feat in revenue generation following its operational strategies in import/ export trade facilitation, speedy cargo clearance and curtailing smuggling at the seaport.
According to her, men and Officers of Apapa Command are constantly on their duty posts, working in line with the Presidential directives to keep the nation’s seaport active with economic activities inspite of the coronavirus epidemic.
Recall that Apapa Command just generated more than N110.2billion for government, from January to March, 2020, being the first quarter of the year.
The PRO said that the Customs Area Controller of Apapa Command, Comptroller Abba-Kura is giving more attention to trade facilitation, in order to ensure seamless cargo clearance in the port.
