Customs in Oyo/ Osun Command rejects rice returned by state government
*No directive for us to accept such rice -Says Command PRO

The rice dropped outside Customs Office in Ibadan by Oyo State government:
The Public Relations Officer (PRO), Oyo/Osun Command of Nigeria Customs Service, Abdullahi-Lagos Abiola, has said that the Command rejected alleged spoilt rice returned by Oyo State government because there is no directive to receive such rice.
He pointed out that the Command released the items to the State government, following an official letter from the Customs headquarters directing the Command to carry out such action.
As such, the Command will also wait for official directive from Customs headquarters on what next to be done.
His explanation followed the action of the State government in returning the alleged spoilt rice, but leaving the items outside the Customs Office in Ibadan.
According to the PRO, every Command of Customs in the country works on directives from the top management, and Oyo/Osun formation is not an exception.
He informed, “Well, the rice dropped outside the Command, along with the trucks is at their own risk.
“The reality is that, the Command cannot accept alleged spoilt rice without official letter from the headquarters.”
Recall that Oyo/Osun Customs had released 1,800 bags of rice to Oyo State government,
as COVID-19 palliative, following a directive from the Federal Government that such items be given out to as relief items.
However, the Command expressed surprise that few days after the items were successfully evacuated from its warehouse, and delivered as directed, the State government alleged that the rice was not suitable for consumption.
