The Eastern Marine Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), is poised for greater feats in anti-smuggling drive this period, as the new Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the formation, Compt Ndarni Joseph Dogara is bringing fresh impetus to bear in its operations.
Compt Ndarni, who took over the Command recently, has already demonstrated his competence by touring all the outstations within its area of operations.
Compt Ndarni is an experienced Customs officer and a competent administrator. Recall that before his new assignment as the CAC of Eastern Marine Command, he was in charge of administration at Seme Area Command, the busiest border between Nigeria and other West African countries in the sub-region.
Daily Business Update learnt that as part of his familiarisation programmes, Compt Ndarni has toured many units under his Command in Port Harcourt, even as he held meetings with stakeholders there. He also extended his visit to Ibaka beach town in Akwa Ibom State, up to the Navy Base and Calabar as well.
Similarly, last week, Compt Ndarni and his men visited Onne Oil /Gas Command in Port Harcourt, where he met Compt Wushishi LS, the Customs Area Controller in her office.
During the visit, he assured Compt Wushishi about the readiness of his Command to provide 24 hours surveillance on the waterways.
He emphasised, “We are going to ensure 24 hours patrol surveillance of the waterways. It is imperative and achievement. We must equally sustain the tempo, in order to protect the oil and gas facilities within our area of operations”.
