Onne Customs hit N107.3bn revenue collection

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Area II Command, Onne Port, has recorded outstanding performance in revenue generation, with a whooping sum of N107.3 billion realised in 2019.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO), of the Command, Ifeoma Ojekwu disclosed this to Journalists.
In a press statement signed by the PRO on behalf of the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Onne Port, Comptroller Galadima Saidu, She explained that the Command surpassed its revenue target for 2019, with a huge sum of N11.6 billion.
This, she said, represents 112 per cent increase, when compared to the annual target of ₦95.7 billion given to the Command last year.
The PRO also disclosed that the Command in the period under review made 24 seizures, with a total Duty Paid Value (DPV) of more than ₦1.2 billion.
According to the press release, the items seized were 99 containers, foreign rice; vegetable oil, detergents; scrap metals; aluminum sheets and furniture, among others.
Also, the Command made tremendous achievements in export trade, with 255,407 metric tons of exported goods, with Free On Board (FOB), value of ₦28,420,745,662.5, within the same period.
Comptroller Saidu expressed strong displeasure on illegal activities of smugglers describing such as economic sabotage.
Saidu thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Ali Hameed for the support given to his Command during the period under review.
