N413.7bn revenue: Comptroller Abba-kura makes history in Apapa Customs
.Surpasses Target With Over N41bn

The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Apapa Area Command, Comptroller Mohammed Abba-Kura has made history in outstanding revenue generation in the nation’s Premier Port.
The Command under his watch collected a huge sum of over N413.7 billion from January to December, 19, 2019.
Most remarkably, Comptroller Abba-Kura and his team surpassed the revenue target of the Command with over N41billion; from N372billion given to them in 2019 fiscal year.
Addressing Journalists during a press conference at the Command, the CAC asserted, “The N413.7 billion generated within the period under review translated to 111 percent of the 2019 annual revenue target.
“In achieving this feat, the complementary roles of Customs Intelligence Unit, Valuation and other units of the Command must be specially acknowledged.”
“It is worthy to note that the Command had the highest revenue collection of N42.7billion in the month of October 2019. In October 2018, the Command realised N31.8billion. When you compare N42.7billion to N31.8billion, you will get N10.8billion surplus”.
Comptroller Abba-Kura explained further, “Also, the revenue collected so far in 2019, is higher than that of 2018 with over N9.7billion, looking at our records for this year.”
That was not all. The CAC of the Premier Port revealed, “In fact, within the period under review, the Command seized 112 containers of various items that flouted import procedures.
“Notable among them were pharmaceutical products, which include tramadol imported without approval from NAFDAC. Others include footwears, foreign rice and armored glasses. The Duty Paid Value for these seizures is N12.8billion”.
The CAC advised importers of pharmaceutical products to always comply with NAFDAC guidelines to avoid incurring losses.
