The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Murtala Muhammed Area Command (MMAC), has made impressive performance in revenue generation, as the Command realised more than N47.7 billion from January to October 2019 fiscal year.
The Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the Command, Mr Ephraim Haruna made this known to Daily Business Update.
He attributed the feats recorded by the Command to the leadership quality of the new Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller L E Oyama.
According to him, “The Command also made 8 detentions and seizures for the month of October 2019, with Duty Paid Value (DPV) of ₦34,077,318.69. The seized items include Military Armored Vests, drones and Walkie-Talkie.
“Recall that the Command made similar seizures of drones, Walkie-Talkie and Military Armored Vests just last month, as the items were imported into the country without End-User-Certificate, EUC.”
.His assertion, “In the month of October alone, the Command realised over N4.7 billion revenue generation for government. This figure represents 109.6 percent of the expected revenue target for the month of October 2019, exceeding the monthly target with N412,477,611.00.
“From January to October 2019, the Command collected N47,757,823,787.00 billion, as against N44,094,902,247.00 billion , realised the same period in 2018.
“This figure represents 110.7 percent of the expected revenue target from January to October 2019, exceeding January to October collections of 2018 with N3,662,921,540.00 billion”.
