The CAC addressing reporters:

Destruction of the seized items:
“As you all can see, we are here to witness another destruction of poultry products smuggled into the country illegally but intercepted by our men through intelligence.
“We must do this because we have a duty to protect our economy”.
These were the words of the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Western Marine Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Comptroller BN Binga, as he destroyed 2,349 cartons of smuggled poultry products with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of over N23.7million
He continued, “Since smugglers do not want to stop sabotaging government’s effort at growing the economy, we are not tired of destroying the seized products.
“Let them look for better things to do, than smuggling prohibited items into the country”.
“They can use their money to farm because we have enough land in the country and government is giving a lot of incentives to support agriculture.”
The seized items were burnt before officials of NAFDAC, other government agencies and reporters who turned out to cover the event.
