Apapa Customs achieves outstanding revenue record in 2019
.Generates over N203.2bn revenue

The Apapa Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has achieved outstanding record of revenue generation in half year of 2019, as the Command collected over N203.2billion for the Federal Government.
The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Apapa Command, Comptroller Muhammed Abba-Kura, made this known during a press conference at the Command while giving report of their activities in the first half year of 2019.
According to him, “The revenue collected within the period under review represents 54.5percent of the annual revenue target given to the Command.
“It is worthy of mention that the Command has a monthly revenue target of N31billion and yearly target of N372.5billion.
“Comparative analysis of the revenue collection by Apapa Command from January to June 2018 and 2019 indicates an increase of N26.5billion.”
Responding to questions on anti-smuggling activities of the Command, the CAC pointed out, “Within the period under review, the Command seized a total of 29 containers of various items that contravened import procedures. These include tomato paste, vegetable oil, foot-wears, Tramadol and other drugs. Others were armored glasses without End-User-Certificate.”
Comptroller Abba-Kura informed, “The listed items breached government fiscal policy measures for 2018/2019. The Duty Paid Value, DPV of the items stands at N418.4million.”
The Apapa Customs boss also said that the Command recorded 95,229.15 metric tons of exported goods with FOB value of N14.2billion, which is equivalent to $46,613,453,75 within the same period.
His words, ‘The Command will continue to facilitate speedily legitimate, compliant and all trade that satisfied the necessary procedures concerning the transactions. All such consignments will get accelerated clearance out of Customs system.
“We will continue on the capacity building programmes for officers and stakeholders operating within the Command to acquaint them with modern trends, government fiscal policies, as well as NICIS 11 operating systems. This will bring everyone at the same page for optimal service and willful compliance for timely cargo clearance”.
He concluded, “Let me use this opportunity to appreciate our esteemed compliant stakeholders for their collective contribution to our successes and assure them of our readiness to serve them even better in the second half of 2019”.
