Security summit: Ogun Customs lauds CGC Ali on collaborative effort

“One of the cardinal principles of the Comptroller General of Customs, CGC Ali Hameed policy thrust is emphasis on maximum collaboration with critical stakeholders.
“Therefore Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has pledged to continue rendering needed support in this collaborative effort, by providing needed information and appropriate services in good time, whenever the need arise.
“This is because no single agency or organisation can succeed and thrive in isolation”.
These were the assertions made by Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Ogun Area Command, Comptroller Michael Agbara, while addressing participants at the quarterly inter-border security summit with Benin Republic security personnel and stakeholders.
Comptroller Agbara who came in company of the Public Relations Officer of the Command and other senior officers said, “We cannot rest on our oars particularly at this critical time of our national life, as the myriad of irregular migration and trade with attendant challenges of trans-border crimes such as arms smuggling, human trafficking, drugs trafficking must be tackled headlong.”
He went, “This forum is an avenue to interact and explore issues that will foster the collective growth of our nations, (that is Nigeria and Benin). This will also promote trade facilitation and seamless movements along two artificial divides”.
The security meeting had in attendance participants from Nigeria Customs, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Immigration Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Department of State Service, Nigeria Police, security agencies from Benin and other relevant stakeholders.
The summit where vital security issues were discussed ended with the cutting of cake by participants of both countries.
