Again: Seme Customs makes mind boggling seizures
.Seizes expired rice, 7,524 bottles of table water from China

The Seme Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is in the news again.
The Command just seized 7,524 bottles of foreign table water, expired rice and other prohibited items smuggled into the country by illicit traders.
This is coming only few days after the same Command unveiled seizures worth millions of naira, including hard drugs, expired biscuits and other contraband.
The Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Mohammed Uba, who is an experienced enforcement officer of the Service, disclosed this during a press conference at Seme today.
He further revealed that the 7,524 bottles of table water were imported from China and valued at over N1.7million, with a total Duty Paid Value of more than N3 million.
Comptroller Uba informed “The effort of Enforcement Unit of our Command with regards to suppression of smuggling has been unprecedented in recent times, as shown in the number of seizures made in few weeks.”
He pointed out, “In fact, one of the vehicles used in carrying prohibited items is a Toyota Hilux Van that was masked in official regalia, but was seized with 16 bags of rice at Gbaji axis”.
Other items seized by the Command include 83 cartons of soap, 1,718 bags of foreign rice, 9 vehicles, 26 bales of secondhand clothings, 13 bags of expired rice and other contraband.
Talking about revenue generation for the Federal Government, Comptroller Uba said the Command also realised over N4.1billion in the half year of 2019.
