Customs in Ogun generate over N1.1bn
.Seizes 38 vehicles, 7,000 bags of rice

The Ogun Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), is in the news again for outstanding performance in revenue collection and anti-smuggling feats.
The Command in the month of May, 2019, collected over N1.1billion revenue for the Federal Government to run the economy.
The Customs Area Controller (CAC), of the Command, Comptroller Michael Agbara, disclosed this while briefing Journalists at Idiroko, yesterday.
According to him, the Command seized contraband, which include 7,030 bags of foreign rice, 411 kegs of petrol, second hand clothings, 38 units of vehicles, over 1,835 pairs of foot-wears, three bags of sugar (50kg each), 372 kegs of vegetable oil and three units of motorcycles, among other prohibited items.
He said, “The items you are seeing here were intercepted through strategic enforcement measures put in place to tackle smuggling.

“This is in line with the Federal Government policy on development of agriculture to boost local rice production in the country, in order to ensure food security.
“The total Duty Paid Value (DPV), of the seized items is N201.9million”.
He went on, “In the same month of May, the Command realised revenue collection of over N1.1billion”.
So, with over N1.1billion generated, the Command surpassed its revenue target with N488.3million, out of a monthly target of N643.4million.
He stressed, “Ogun Command will continue to dialogue and educate the public on economic implications of smuggling to the nation’s economy”.
