The Customs Area Controller, CAC, Seme Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Comptroller Mohammed Uba has said that the just concluded regional conference on joint border posts is good for trade facilitation and national security within the sub-region.
Comptroller Uba, who was a participant at the programme, explained that the workshop paved the way for Customs officers, other security agencies from Nigeria and various countries to brainstorm on measures that should be put in place to ensure trade facilitation, as well as constant security at joint border posts.
According to him, “The conference was well attended and centered on issues related to joint border posts operations.
“Customs officers and delegates from other security agencies involved in border operations deliberated exhaustively on important issues of border security within the sub-region”.
Comptroller Uba commended the organisers of the programme, stressing that the conference was timely and useful for the participating nations.
He added, “The programme enabled participants to network and share experiences on new techniques, which should be brought to bear in joint border posts operations, in order to enhance trade facilitation.
The programme was organised by ECOWAS and other partners for participants from East, West, South Africa and other countries within the West African sub-region.
Some participating countries include Nigeria, Ghana, Lome, Benin Republic, Zambia, South Africa and Zimbabwe, among others
