Customs Committee arrests 2 suspects at Seme border
.Allocates 1,235 bags of rice to 5 orphanages

The Customs Committee on allocation of items to orphanages in the country must be given credit for alertness in arresting and detaining two persons for obtaining documents under false pretence in the name of the Service.
Daily Business Update reporter, who was an eyewitness of the incident at Seme border, observed that the Committee members, especially the Customs National Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller Joseph Attah, on sensing that the two individuals were fraudsters immediately arrested and detained them at Seme Command.
The immediate arrest of the man and a woman, who went about collecting documents from unsuspecting representatives of orphanages within the area, was particularly commended by other officers on ground, as DC Attah and his team did not allow the suspects any chance to escape.
Speaking, DC Attah expressed displeasure about the attitude of the offenders, condemning their fraudulent act in strong term.
He said, “We discovered that some unpatriotic elements who do not have human feelings in them have attempted to catch into this good gesture by the Federal Government, to further subjugate our people, especially the suffering Nigerians into more hardship.
“We caught this man and a woman going about, collecting documents from orphanages in the name of Customs, on pretence that they are working for the Service.
“We have been able to nip this issue on the bud, as we immediately arrested and detained them here at Seme Command.
“Let me say categorically here that the Service has a Committee made up of five Comptrollers, one Deputy Comptroller, who is the National PRO, a representative of the Legal Adviser and Assistant Comptroller, who is a representative of the Zone. As such, the Service is not using any intermediary and has not given any person permission to collect documents from orphanages on its behalf.
“Also, the Committee is headed by Comptroller Salihu Yakubu, who is known for integrity and competence”.
In the same vein, the Committee allocated 1,235 bags of rice, vegetable oil, clothings and other items to five orphanages at Seme border.
