Apapa Customs breaks revenue records with N404bn

The CAC and five officers rewarded by Apapa Customs for selfless service, at the press conference yesterday:
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command has made remarkable performance in revenue generation, as the Command collected over N404billion in 2018 economic year.
The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Command, Comptroller Bashir Abubakar, made this known to news men at a press briefing, at the Command, yesterday.
He stated: “The N404billon when reviewed against the yearly revenue target of N426.1billion represents 95percent collection, which shows that the Command in 2018, collected N53billion above 2017 revenue generation. This clearly indicates increased collection of 13.13percent over 2017 revenue.”
That was not all. Giving more details on activities of the Command, the CAC said, “The Command also realised N73.1billion from 1.2million metric tons of exported goods.
“We made 72 seizures of various goods, such as used spare parts, tyres and other items with Duty Paid Value (DPV) of over N9.6billion within the same period.
“The Command in the same period under review seized and condemned 41 x 40ft containers of tramadol imported into the country in excess of allowable milligram. The DPV was N8.8billion.
“The Command also intercepted export bound used helicopter valued at N210million and import bound Aircraft valued at N486.9million.
“The Action of the Command certainly was in tandem with the extant laws and guidelines of the Service, due to infractions, such as false declaration, concealment and outright disregard to the laws of the country.
“It is worthy to note that the achievements recorded in 2018, earned Apapa Command the recognition by World Customs Organisation (WCO)”.
In the same vein, Comptroller Abubakar put smiles on the faces of five officers, as he honoured them with awards of recognition for their dedication and commitment to the Service.
