Seme Customs condemns smuggling of tramadol, hard drugs

Officers of Seme Command handing over the drugs to officials of NDLEA:
The Nigeria Customs Service, Seme Area Command has condemned in strong terms illegal smuggling of tramadols and harmful drugs into the country through the back door.
The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Seme Area Command, Comptroller Mohammed Garba Uba, said this, as the Command handed over more than 56 rolls of tramadol and 43 parcels of Cannabis Sativa (Indian Hemp), to NDLEA in Lagos.
The Seized drugs include 67 rolls by 10 packets, 9 packs (225mg each) of tramadol, 56 rolls by 5 packets (200mg each) of tramadol and 43 parcels of Cannabis sativa.
The seized items were officially handed over by the Deputy Comptroller in charge of Enforcement, Seme Customs, DC Adhunse, to the officials of NDLEA in Lagos, to carry out further investigation.
Speaking further, Comptroller Uba, expressed strong displeasure on smuggling of hard drugs, saying such drugs are dangerous to the citizens, especially the youths who can easily be influenced by it to commit crimes.
His words, “There is no hiding place for economic saboteurs at Seme border, because we will not hesitate to seize smuggled items, arrest and prosecute offenders, to serve as deterrent to others.”
The CAC appealed to Nigerians to engage in legitimate trade, instead of working against government’s policies aimed at growing the economy.
The NDLEA officials thanked the Command for their collaborative effort in tackling illegal smuggling of hard drugs into the country, even as they promised to investigate the matter thoroughly.
