Seme Customs ready for NICIS II implementation at joint border post

The Seme Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), is ready to modernise implementation of Nigeria Customs Integrated Information System (NICIS ll), at the Joint Border Post, in order to enhance more revenue collection for government.
To ensure effective Implementation of the NICIS ll platform at the border, the Customs ACG in charge of ICT and Modernisation unit, along with his team visited Seme Command, yesterday.
The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Seme Command, Comptroller Mohammed Garba Uba, explained that the visit was necessary to modernise implementation of NICIS II, which he described as an advanced stage of Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA), for greater trade facilitation.
Comptroller Uba stated further, “Infact, NICIS II modernisation at Joint Border Post will ensure harmonisation in cargo clearance”.
He pointed out, “This is important for a One-Stop-Border-Post (OSBP) in joint clearance, to enhance more revenue collection”.
His words, “The Service under the current management believes that harmonisation in cargo clearance will solidify cooperation and regional integration among countries within the sub-region.
“This is because NICIS II platform is designed for sharing information, as well as data on the same system. As such, implementing it at Seme Joint Border Post will allow for information sharing among other Customs administrations operating on that corridor”.
