Regional integration will boost trade in W/African sub-region- Says Comptroller Uba

The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Seme Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Comptroller Mohammed Uba, said regional integration, if adequately implemented will boost trade within the West African sub-region, in order to enhance economic growth and development.
Comptroller Uba made this known at the sidelines of the workshop on, One-Stop-Border-Port, OSBP, organised by World Bank, ECOWAS, NEPAD, Usaid, Japan International cooperation agency and other development partners, at Atang Palace hotel, Accra ,Ghana, for West and Central African regions.
According to him, the programme, which centered mostly on regional integration and trade facilitation for countries within the West African sub-region, was a knowledge sharing forum for participants drawn from West and Central Africa.
Seme Customs CAC who also commended the organisers of the workshop for their initiative on One-Stop-Border-Port’ operations, said, “Regional integration will ensure easy movement of goods and services along Lagos-Abijan corridor like what obtains in East Africa. As such, it will enhance trade facilitation for greater economic growth in Nigeria and economies within the sub-region”.
His assertion, “Another gain is that regional integration in West African sub-region aids the operations at Nigeria-Benin joint border post”.
