The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Seme Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Comptroller Mohammed Uba, has strengthened inter-agency synergy between the Command and Nigerian Army, as part of the measures to check illicit business at the border.
Comptroller Uba demonstrated this when he received the General officer Commanding, GOC 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General M. S. Yusuf on familiarization tour to the Command.
Uba explained that inter-agency collaboration is vital in anti-smuggling operations, particularly at the border region, to check nefarious activities of the dare devil smugglers.
Comptroller Uba assured Major General Yusuf, who is in charge of Lagos and Ogun States of the willingness of Seme Area Command to work with his team in curtailing activities of smugglers at the border area.
Uba said, “We have a duty to generate revenue for government to run the economy, facilitate trade and check smuggling of contraband items into the country. Therefore, we are going to work with Nigerian Army, as well as other sister agencies at the border to carry out these functions effectively”.
