The Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC, Ali Hameed has commended the Federal Operatives Unit (FOU) Zone ‘A’ of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for outstanding performance in anti-smuggling operations and enforcement within the zone.
The CGC gave this commendation in Lagos, while inspecting the massive seizures recorded by FOU Zone ‘A’ in its area of coverage.
He said, “The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of FOU zone ‘A’, Comptroller Mohammed Uba and his team recorded exceptional performance within the zone. This is quite commendable”.
His assertion, “This is an exceptional performance by this Unit in a short period. I am highly impressed with the performance of FOU Zone ‘A’ in curbing the menace of smuggling. The Unit has done exceptionally well, as you can see the level of seizures recorded in a short period.”
The words of CGC Ali, “We are not going to relent on our anti-smuggling operations. We would continue to seize prohibited items, arrest and prosecute smugglers. We must continue our duties until we reduce smuggling to the barest minimum. This is important because even as these items are being seized on regular basis, more are still coming in. So, we would never relent in carrying out our duties”.
