Comptroller Shoboiki in a handshake with AIG during his visit to Airport Command:
“With the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Ali Hameed, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is not business as usual. Everything in the Service under the watch of Ali is done strictly on merit and without fear of favour from any quarter”.
These were the words of the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Murtala Mohammed Area Command (MMAC), Comptroller Jayne Shoboiki (Mrs), PhD, when the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Danjuma Ibrahim, visited the Command, to seek working synergy for effective policing of the International Airport.
According to Shoboiki, “We are ready and willing to work with Police and other security agencies at the International Airport for the good of our country”.

She explained, “When I assumed duty here three months ago, I met the Commissioner of Police, Heads of various agencies and stakeholders at the Airport, to see ways we could collaborate in carrying out our statutory duties. So, our doors are opened for suggestions and ideas on issues of national security at the Airport”.
The CAC enthused, “CGC Ali as I said earlier is reforming the Service for greater efficiency and officers are highly motivated. Therefore, we would continue to perform our core functions of revenue generation, trade facilitation and anti-smuggling to enhance economic prosperity of Nigeria now and in the long-run.”
The CAC pointed out, “Airport is the first point of entry into the country by people as well as investors. So, we must be vigilant and work in synergy to secure our Airport. Our officers are always at alert. Recently, we intercepted Military hard-wares, which were concealed and falsely declared by the importer, in a bid to escape security checks but the eagle eyes of our officers caught those items. Imagine if such items had gone into wrong hands in the country”.
In his remarks, AIG Danjuma Ibrahim, said, “There is need for greater synergy and cooperation with Customs and other sister agencies at the International Airport to ensure national security.
He said, “Customs is very important in national security, especially at the International Airport. That informed our decision to visit this Command for collaboration”.
AIG went on, “CGC, Ali Hameed has done a lot in repositioning the Service to greater height of recognition, as such, the Police is ready to partner with Customs and other security agencies on issues of national security of this country. I commend the CAC of this Command and the officers for their effectiveness on duty at the Aiport”.

Similarly, Comptroller Shoboiki handed over 99 sacks of unprocessed Donkey skin to Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service, 30 sacks of Pangolin scales and eight bags of elephant tusks to National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) for further investigation.

Dr. Ubiogoro Eloho received the unprocessed Donkey skin on behalf of her organisation, while the Lagos State Coordinator of NESREA, Mr. Nosa Aigbedion received the Pangolin and elephant tusks on behalf of NESREA. Both of them commended Comptroller Shoboiki and the entire officers of the Command for the seizures and promised to carry out thorough investigation on the matter.
