Customs at MMAC Calls for 100% examination of cargo
…Launches new Service uniform

The Customs Area Controller, CAC, of Murtala Mohammed Area Command, MMAC, of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Comptroller Shoboiki Jayne (Mrs), PhD, has formally launched the new Customs uniform at her Command, urging officers to ensure proper dressing and the right decorum at all times, to promote the image of the Service.
The CAC made this known while addressing officers at the Command during parade. She emphasized the need for them to work in tandem with the three-point agenda of the CGC in reforming and restructuring the Service, in order to increase revenue generation for the Federal Government.
Comptroller Shoboiki stressed the importance of proper examination of cargo, even as she mandated all sectional Heads to ensure 100 percent physical examination to boost revenue generation.
Her assertion, “Thorough examination of cargo is quite imperative for the security of our Country (Nigeria), in order to prevent prohibited items from coming into our economic environment. This is very important because without proper examination of cargo, the releasing officers may release the wrong consignment. The releasing officers must be careful, as the Command’s management team and Headquarters are monitoring their activities”.
“Also, the examination officers should be explicit in their Inspection Acts for proper valuation. I implore the Command officers to work as a team and adhere strictly to the 7-Cs of Customs.”
Financial Business observed that the CAC who appeared smartly dressed in the new Service uniform, instructed officers to dress properly while on duty, reminded them that improper dressing is an offence that attracts severe disciplinary action. She congratulated newly promoted officers and disclosed that in subsequent parades, outstanding officers will be rewarded, as a way of encouraging others to put in their best in the Service.
She pointed out, “Nigeria Customs Service is a Paramilitary organization and with the CGC’s background, officers must be disciplined in a manner approved by the Board, also according to the Public Service Rule. We have to look smart and be good Ambassadors of the Service because the International Airport serves as a gateway into the Country”.
”.In the same vein, the CAC informed officers that Nigeria Customs Integrated System II, (NICIS II) was launched in the Command by the Technical Team Unit Abuja, on May 28, 2018. “However, the team is still around to resolve all teething problems and put stakeholders through before leaving the Command. We must be prepared to work tirelessly, to meet and even surpass the Command’s revenue target”, she said”.
