Police declares war against criminals in Lagos

.Says no hiding place for criminals in the State

Suspects paraded by Lagos Police:
The Lagos State Police Command headquarter has declared war against unrepentant criminals in the State, saying Police operatives will leave no stone unturned in raiding all black spots in Lagos, arresting and prosecuting culprits committing crimes.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edgal Imohimi made this declaration while parading dreaded armed robbers and 319 cultists apprehended by Lagos Police within a short period for different offenses.
Arms recovered by Lagos Police:
According to him, “Various Commands of Lagos Police have been busy, keeping the State safe, using intelligence driven approach of policing and tracking criminals terrorising innocent citizens”.
Imohimi said, “Our men intercepted Indian Hemp loaded in a Toyota Sienna, with registration number GGE 886 EV, and the driver, Mr. Mudashiru Sulaimon (male, 32years) was apprehended. The same day, the Command seized one Citroen Bus with registration number JJJ 301 XV, loaded with 34 bales of Indian Hemp, worth over N10million. The driver, Mr. Olowo Owolabi (male, 32years) was equally arrested. Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed that they were hired to drive the vehicles by a drug baron who owns the hard drugs”.
Suspects caught at Lagos trade-fair complex:
Among the suspects paraded were two culprits caught in the act, carting away goods worth millions of Naira at the Trade-Fair Complex, along Lagos/Badagry Expressway, from a shop belonging to a Chinese national. .
The Police Commissioner revealed, “On 26/04/2018 at about 2000 hours, the DPO Trade-Fair Division, SP Sunny Akaeze, got a tip off that a syndicate specialises in breaking and looting shops at Trade-Fair Complex were about to operate at BBA arm of the Complex. Based on information, the DPO promptly dispatched his operatives led by the DCO to the Plaza, shop D-108 on surveillance. Eventually Mr. Ifeanyi Okafor (male, 30 years), of No. 4, Ayo Shobowale Street, Ira-Ojo, Lagos and Okonkwo Nnamdi (males, 30 years), of shop 108, were apprehended with 39 cartons of Snickers footwear worth millions of Naira”.
He added: “During interrogation, it was discovered that the first suspect, Okafor Ifeanyi, was a failed trader within the complex. He went bankrupt and sold his shop as a result. So, he took to stealing, to launch himself back to business. The second suspect, Okonkwo Nnamdi, on the other hand is a shop owner. He owns Shop 108 at the plaza. Both suspects mentioned one Tupac as their Alter-ego. Tupac is aware that their conspiracy to burgle a Chinese shop in the complex has been thwarted by the Police, hence he is on the run. Items recovered from the suspects include one saw-blade, a damaged padlock used by the Chinese to lock his shop. Investigation is in progress and suspects will be charged to court soon”.
Fake operator of WAEC centre:
Imohimi further disclosed, “On 25/04/2018, at about 1400 hours, following a complaint by a Senior Staff of WAEC office Ogba, about a fake WAEC centre at El-Supreme Private School, located at No. 3, Oseni Adekogbe Street, Igbogbo Ikorodu. Operatives of the Command attached to Area ‘G’ Ogba, were mobilised to the above address where one Pastor Adeniyi Joshua, of El-Supreme Church was arrested. Recovered from him were WAEC Question Papers and Answer Sheets suspected to be forged”.
“Investigation revealed that the culprit usually deceive unsuspecting students by collecting their money on the pretense of helping them to register for WAEC examination, without doing any registration with WAEC. To worsen the matter, he would go ahead and set questions by himself for the students, making it look as if they are actually writing WAEC examination. At the end of the exercise, he would collect their papers and dump at his school premises.”
“Parents should monitor their wards who are under aged, in order to prevent them from falling victims to this kind of fraud. Parents have a major role to play in the up bringing of their children because it is their constitutional responsibility. Infact, in Lagos State, going forward, whenever we arrest under-aged children for committing crimes, we are going to arrest their parents as well. So, parents should begin to monitor the activities of their children.”.
Arms recovered by the Police, in compliance with the Inspector-General of Police directive that, illegal firearms should be mopped-up, include nine Pump-Action rifles; two AK-47 rifles; Six locally made Pistols and Five locally made singled Barrel Pistol.
Also recovered from the suspects include, pistols, cutlasses, charms and different types of weapons.
