Obviously, the Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN), is ready for another historic moment with its Powerful Pen Media Chapel election coming soon.
Right now, plans are on top gear for the Powerful Pen Media Chapel election scheduled for Wednesday July 7, 2021, to take place successful.
Information available shows that the Chapel election will take place at NAGAFF headquarters, Apapa, Lagos, under the supervision of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council.
Also, the Chapel has concluded all necessary arrangements, as well as screening of members for the election to take place smoothly.
The Chapel is made up of MAJAN members and it publishes the Powerful Pen Newspaper.
It is on record that at present, MAJAN is the only Association of Maritime Journalists in Nigeria that has a media Chapel recognised by NUJ.
The Chapel through its monthly Congress and other programmes has carried out consistent advocacy for a better maritime industry.
This year 2021 alone, the Powerful Pen Media Chapel has organised over five different programmes, where reputable stakeholders in the maritime industry spoke on important issues in the sector.
Such programmes include the special Congress on Apapa perennial traffic gridlock, Nigeria’s readiness for AFCFTA, National Maritime Summit that took place at RockView hotel, Maritime sector review, measures needed for sustainability of NIMASA”s Deep Blue project, among others.
Recall that it was after the Powerful Pen Chapel special Congress, held in January 14, 2021, on Apapa traffic that the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), introduced Electronic Call-up system in February to tackle Apapa traffic crisis.
It is also on record that the chapel was the first group to organise a programme on NIMASA’s Deep Blue project, where a Communique was officially issued even before President Muhammadu Buhari formally launched the assets in Lagos.
With its Media Chapel, MAJAN as a group has added value to maritime industry through responsible reportage.
Now, MAJAN is going to make history again, as members prepare for the Chapel election, which can be described as the most outstanding .
All thanks to the amiable President of MAJAN, Comrade Ray Ugochukwu, a seasoned Journalist and renowned writer, whose ingenuity and wealth of experience have taken the chapel to an enviable height of recognition.
