The items, which were smuggled into the country but intercepted by officers of WMC, were destroyed in the open.
Government officials from National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), other agencies and media men witnessed the destruction of the seized poultry items.
In his remarks, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Command, Comptroller Binga B. N, explained that destruction of the seized poultry items was in line with the policy of Government on how such items should be handled.
Also, Comptroller Binga warned Nigerians on smuggling contraband into the country against government trade policies.
The CAC also informed that smuggled poultry products pose serious health hazards to consumers, advising Nigerians not to patronize such items.
